My ExperienceI’ve met with the team first time in my 11th grade in high-school when they organized a hackathon. I came because Hacker News was my homepage and I was obsessed by startups. When the guys saw me, they were pretty surprised of my age, but after a day of pair-programming with them, their opinion changed. The next year I had to choose between leaving Romania for a university abroad, or working with them. And I chose uberVU.
When you are self-taught and you are hacking alone on the Internet, you don’t have deadlines and responsibilities. But here, I’ve learnt why a client is valuable, how to focus on what’s important for the company and how to be a good teammate in this awesome team. I’ve also went through the acquisition this winter and I feel now I’m part of a rocket ship.
Also, my team has been pretty patient with me. I’ve broke the staging environment, broke every developer environment, broke the deploy system and even put the kitchen on fire. But our product is rock solid and I’ve always learnt from my mistakes.
